Created in the second half of the 19th century, the Vitré castle museum underwent a major restructuring in the 2010s, including the addition of a ninth room serving as a temporary exhibition gallery. This new museography also offers visitors a new route within the ancient medieval fortress of the Marches de Bretagne.
In a unique setting, the Vitré castle museum reveals exceptional collections dedicated to the art and history of the city. In particular, it is possible to admire an enameled altarpiece, sculptures or even treasures of religious goldwork dating from the 16th to the 20th century.
The site also offers a visit to an old 18th century apothecary with its many remedies.
