From the north coast of Finistère, the Roscoff pink onion is of the Allium cepa variety. The reference to "Roscoff" is because for a long time, the city was the only portthat sentthis food to Britain. Harvested between July and September, it now boasts an AOC and a PDO. Equally good cooked or raw, the Roscoff pink onion has a unique taste, fragrant, but not too strong on the palate.

Rich in vitamin C, the Roscoff pink onion is particularly good for the health, supplying large amounts of this nutrient. In addition, it is said to have antioxidant properties and may protect against certain diseases.

Every August, the city hosts an onion festival with a range of entertainment. All year round, you can also visit the Onion Johnnies and Roscoff Onion Discovery Centre (Maison des Johnnies et de l'Oignon de Roscoff), basedin a former farm. It tells the story of onion-growing and the onion merchants called Johnnies, who went to Britain every summer to sell their produce door-to-door.
