A charming little town in Haute-Loire, Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region Aiguilhe sits on the edge of Puy-en-Velay, between 600 and 750 meters. Crossed by the via Podiensis, the way to Saint Jacques de Compostela which crosses the Puy, it lies close to Polignac Ceyssac and Cussac-sur-Loire.

Old volcano chimney out of the water there are several hundreds of thousands of years, the rock of Aiguilhe still stands proudly on the town. If time and erosion have sharply attacked its size, the rock, however, keeps the shape of a slender cone of more than eighty meters high. At its peak, after a path of 268 steps, you can admire the Saint-Michel chapel, religious building rich in interest and appreciated for its incredible architecture. Opened in the second half of the tenth century, it is enlarged in the following century. Even today, lovers of old stones can admire the gate adorned with a bow polylobé of Mozarabic influence, or even the beautiful façade of black stone mosaic, gray, red and white, with a low half of the nineteenth century a high half of the twelfth. Be sure not to admire, protected by a gate, a reliquary Christ, a hotel in the Byzantine ivory twelfth century or second reliquary thirteenth. All around the building, a pleasant walkway offers breathtaking views of the city of Puy-en-Velay and its magnificent Notre Dame Cathedral.
Located in the heart of the town, the St. Clair chapel was originally the funeral chapel of St. Nicolas of Aiguilhe hospital. Built in the twelfth century on an octagonal plan with apse, it takes place on the ruins of an ancient temple dedicated to the goddess Diana. Not far away, seduced by a stone cross of the fifteenth century storied on both sides, or a fountain nineteenth century Gothic-inspired and listed historical monument.
Listed historic monument, the bridge of Estroulhas extends more than 200 meters long and 5 meters wide, the river Borne. According to studies, its equipment dates from pre-Roman.
