Mountain town in Haute-Loire, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, Vals-près-le-Puy takes place in the Massif Central, in the Dolaizon valley. It is located between 632 and 920 meters above sea level, not far from Puy-en-Velay, Polignac or Ceyssac.
Colonized about a thousand years ago by the Ligurians, the territory of Vals-près-le-Puy is of very ancient origin. It developed in the Middle Ages, notably with the creation of an Augustinian monastery at the start of the 14th century. Today, the town has continued to experience a population increase, exceeding 3,000 inhabitants during the 1970s.
Close to one of the most beautiful towns in Haute-Loire, Vals-près-le-Puy attracts many visitors, in particular thanks to its important architectural and historical heritage.
