Municipality of Deux-Sèvres, in the region Nova Aquitaine, Chauray takes place just a few kilometers from Niort. It is located not far from Saint-Gelais, Cherveux and Saint-Maxire.
Known from the tenth century in the official records, the common Chauray would actually born in the Gallo-Roman. Over the centuries, it builds dynamic and pleasant face it has today, including enjoying a significant economic influence in the 1970s.
