Municipality of the Haut-Jura Regional Natural Park, Échevenex takes place at the foot of the massif, just a few kilometers from Gex and Crozet.
Quoted from the 12th century, the commune of Échevenex bears witness to a very ancient origin. The Pays de Gex was indeed under Roman domination from Antiquity. The one that owes its name to the cultivation of hemp, very famous under the Romans, became a municipality in its own right in the first half of the 19th century.
Appreciated by visitors for its tranquility and natural heritage, the small town of Échevenex is occupied one third of its surface by forest and pastures. Something to delight lovers of hiking or outdoor sports.
