Situated in the Ardennes, in East Grand region Flize is a new joint sitting around a dozen kilometers from Charleville-Mezieres, near Boulzicourt, Dom-le-Mesnil or Villers-sur-Bar. She was born on January 1, 2019 from the merger of Boutancourt, Elan, and Flize Balaives-et-Butz.

The territory of Flize experienced human occupation in the Gallo-Roman period. He gradually unveiled face we see today, first through agriculture, but also with industry. The town has also sadly illustrated in the Second World War through bombing or fighting.

Today Flize seduces visitors passing through the area by its proximity to some of the most beautiful cities in the area, but also with its rich architectural and historical heritage.

Things to see and do

Listed historical monument, the Church of Our Lady of Élan is located at the site of an ancient abbey of the twelfth century, which you can still see the remains as the first two nave bays. Full of charm, the building reveals an early eighteenth-century portal adorned with Corinthian columns. Let yourself be seduced by the marble altar and twisted columns or burial of Antoine de Braban, Count of Rethel that of Philip of Burgundy. It is also possible to see the remains of the Abbey of Élan, a former Cistercian abbey with four turrets and a frame of the late sixteenth century in the shape of inverted boat hull. It is also listed historical monument. During your walk, do not miss the St. Roger site with a fountain and a small chapel in the heart of a charming clearing. According to legend, the young women who address the basins could discover the face of their future husband. A fishery with several lakes also seduce trout lovers.

Flize reveals a beautiful Saint-Rémi church of the late nineteenth century have raised the Cross on the walls. Built in the early nineteenth century, the castle later became Flize linen factory and spinning, before returning a private home around 1870. Not far away, you can admire the ancient village of Rimont destroyed in the course of the sixteenth century. You can still see the ruins of old buildings.

Do not forget to admire the church of Boutancourt the lying of Sir Balthazar Alexander Louis de Raincourt, guard the king's body died in the second half of the eighteenth century.
