Castle Montgobert is located on the namesake town in Aisne, 10 km northeast of Villers-Cotterets, the borders of the Oise.
It was built Antoine Pierre Desplasses from 1768 to 1775, on the site of a medieval manor and its farm.
Since 1798, the estate was bought by General Victory Emmanuel Leclerc, who became the husband of Pauline Bonaparte, sister of the Emperor Napoleon. The general died in 1802, his widow remarried Italian Prince Camillo Borghese and abandoned the castle. This one goes to Marshal Davoust in 1821, then to other landlords. Protected as historical monuments, it is up to date to the Duke of Albufera.
neoclassical architecture example, the castle was equipped with an additional floor in 1802 and later, two entrance pavilions are made. Common are even later. Note that the park redesigned in the nineteenth century houses a tomb to sculpted decoration to General Leclerc and grids identifying the farm of the area from the former flag of the markets of Paris (Baltard).
The castle houses a museum of Wood and Local Life has a collection of 300 tools and documents divided into various theme rooms (ancient crafts, accessories related to hunting with hounds, memories of the first war in which the castle was transformed into hospital).
Moreover, the field can be rented by individuals or companies wishing to organize receptions and seminars.
