Town of Île-de-France, Rosny-sous-Bois takes place in the department of Seine-Saint-Denis. It is located fifteen kilometers from Paris and borders of the Val-de-Marne with Fontenay-sous-Bois. Close to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, the city is also conveniently located on the slopes of the Avron plateau. With its three flowers in the competition of cities and villages flowered, the city is also very well served by public transport with the presence of RER stations.

Merovingian ancient village, the town as we know it would have originated during the twelfth century. The seventeenth to the twentieth century, was known for his Rosny-sous-Bois gypsum quarries long exploited.

Well developed economically, City Rosny-sous-Bois is not less ancient and therefore of architectural and historic heritage of the most interesting. Visitors can learn more about the old economy of the town and on the architecture of the region.

Things to see and do

Of very ancient origin, the town still has Rosny-sous-Bois attractions to important historical interest.

Built in the mid-nineteenth century, the fort housed Rosny early twentieth century a Zouave regiment. He was among the sixteen forts detached from the speaker of Thiers who had to protect the city of Paris. Today it is the venue of the technical center of the National Gendarmerie.

Two museums are taking place Rosny-sous-Bois, the municipal museum Louis-Emile-Auxerre, which traces the history of the city in an old house millstone, and the Regional Museum of the Railroad. Also called Rosny-Rail, the latter has several themes such as the history of railway signaling or rolling stock, in twelve appointed spaces. In addition to the collections, visitors can learn about driving a train on a model railroad or take a nice walk in a hand handcar.

Built on the ruins of a church dating from the thirteenth century, Sainte-Geneviève church was built in the mid nineteenth century. Inside, one can admire a reliquary containing the relics of St. Genevieve, the patron saint of Paris. In 1930, the St. Lawrence church in grinding stones and bricks also worth a visit.

Walking through the city of Rosny-sous-Bois, it is possible to admire the statue Le Cep, a female nude recalling the wine past of the city, the Notre-Dame-de-la-Visitation any concrete or station from 1910.

Popular place for locals and tourists, the park Jean Decésari has a beautiful gazebo and picnic areas, a skate park, playgrounds for children or fountains. The city also houses a municipal golf course.

Rosny-sous-Bois also hosts the capital of the National School of Circus Arts and the seat of the national road information center.
