Installed in the salons of a beautiful 19th century private mansion, the Alexandre Dumas museum maintains the memory of three generations of the illustrious Dumas family: the first of the Dumas, Thomas-Alexandre Davy de la Pailleterie, general of the Republic, born in 1762 in Santo Domingo and died in Villers-Cotterêts; his son Alexandre Dumas father, born in Villers-Cotterêts in 1802, universal author of the "Three Musketeers" and the "Count of Monte-Cristo", entered the Pantheon in 2002; and his grandson, Alexandre Dumas fils, academician and creator of the famous Dame aux Camélias.
