Origin of the name of the town: German Wihr, ditch and Heim suffix village.

The Lower Zorn Community of Communes is located in the department of Bas-Rhin and the Greater East region. It consists of seven towns: Bietlenheim, Geudertheim, Gries Hœrdt, Kurtzenhouse Weitbruch and Weyersheim, for a total population of over 17 000 inhabitants.

The privileged location of Weyersheim has encouraged the establishment of populations since prehistoric times. Roman and Merovingian left evidence of their presence. City for the first time in 774 under the name of "Uuihereshaim", the village experienced many guardianships including the bishops of Strasbourg and Leiningen Counts from 1530 to 1789. Burned and looted in 1592 during the war of the bishops, the village experienced the vicissitudes of the Thirty Years war. In 1744 it was the seat of the headquarters of the Imperial troops during the war called the pandours.

Half-timbered houses: Weyersheim has kept and reclaim many houses with wood sides, over sixty are dated. The oldest, located rue du Petit Village is dated 1621. Property of the Commune, it was entrusted to S'Kleenderfel association that has set the mission and purpose of the restoration and to ensure activities of museum and cultural.

Weyersheim has two houses of the Tithe: One belonged to the prince bishops of Strasbourg. Dated 1721, it is the only village from three residential levels. The other property of the counts of Leiningen, is characterized by a Mansard roof sheltering a large loft to house the products delivered under the tithe by the citizens of their jurisdiction. It is dated 1726.

Infrastructure and equipment: Weyersheim is served by roads Strasbourg and Gambsheim Bischwiller-Brumath and Haguenau Strasbourg railway line. Former agricultural village nestled on the edge of the beautiful meadows of the Ried, it still had a large number of small farms in the middle of the twentieth century. There remains at present half a dozen operating chiefly on growing tobacco and corn. Close to Strasbourg and important economic centers, Weyersheim offers the features of a peaceful and vibrant rural and residential city extending around the old village a dozen subdivisions. An area of ​​artisanal and industrial hosts over forty performers providing many jobs. A gravel pit on seventy hectares, subject to an operating agreement for the years to come. The function room "Space W" open to sporting, cultural and village schools includes, two sports halls, a meeting room and rehearsal schedules. Y are practiced basketball, artistic cycling, handball, indoor football, activities to the welfare of the service, and shooting 10 meters. Animations and concerts are also planned there. Outside there are three tennis courts: a short synthetic soil, a clay court and a short covered coated with resin coating. At the southern entrance of the village are the grounds for football with fully refurbished locker rooms. A fishing pond belonging to the APPMA is attached.
