- Carrières-sous-Poissy is a town of about 15,000 inhabitants located in the department of Yvelines (Île-de-France) about thirty kilometers to the west of Paris. Nestling inside the meander of the Seine, between Andrésy and Triel-sur-Seine, she faces Poissy with which it is connected by the bridge of the county.

- It is in 1344 that we find the first mention of Carrières-sous-Poissy in a donation act of King Philip VI of Valois. Separated during the Middle Ages and the Ancien Regime domain of Saint-Blaise, the two territories are unified during the French Revolution to form the municipality of Carrières-sous-Poissy.
- The city starts to grow with the construction of the lock in 1879, then with the arrival of the American millionaire William Kissam Vanderbilt creates in the territory of a prominent Careers horse field in 1907. In parallel, the city specializes in market gardening due to spreading of sludge coming from Paris which fertilize the plain.
- After World War II, the development of automotive industrial site that will support development. The equestrian events end in the 30s, the lock is abandoned in 1977 and market gardening disappeared in the 90s.
