Villennes-sur-Seine

Built in the eleventh century, the church Saint-Nicolas is a Romanesque building partially destroyed during the Hundred Years War. She knows later some modifications, including the building of a flat bed and the erection of a new tower in the sixteenth century. Largely restored in the eighteenth century, it is now listed historical monument. Considered one of the oldest of the department, it has in its interior beautiful sculptures arc arch and the capitals of the entrance to the choir with characteristic Romanesque elements. Do not miss either the works and furniture, including a beautiful statue of the Virgin and Child, stained glass or fences wooden carved Louis XV style.

From the ancient castle Perdrier Brinon-built in the fifteenth century, there remains today only the left wing and the pediment of the central building. Nearby, you can enjoy the park Favel today unveils a nice romantic garden.

Strolling down the streets of the town, you will also discover the old rectory, the former prison, the town house of the eighteenth century which is now a private property or the area Physiopolis which was the forerunner of naturism the late 1920s.

The weekly market is held every Saturday morning. Exhibitions, concerts and other cultural performances are offered throughout the year.

On 14 July, the town organizes a dance and a fireworks display on the occasion of the national holiday.
