The Museum of Contemporary Art of Dunkerque, now called Place of art and contemporary action Dunkerque (WVA), was founded with the establishment of the Association Contemporary art in the 1970s latter was able to sensitize industrialists, local personalities or artists, thereby reaping a collection of great interest.
Located near the beach in the heart of a sculpture garden, water, stone and wind, WVA reveals an explosive architecture white ceramic base. Inside, contemporary art lovers can enjoy exceptional works produced between 1940 and 1980 with more than 1500 pieces of paintings, photographs, sculptures, prints and drawings.
On site it is possible to admire one of the richest collections of works by the CoBrA artists in France, or the works of the New Realists or narrative figuration.
