Located in Haute-Vienne on the border of Corrèze, La Porcherie is established on the plateaus of Haut Limousin between 430 and 530 m. The proximity of the A20 motorway as well as the station located on the Paris-Toulouse axis makes the village very accessible from Limoges (35 mins), Brive and Tulle (40 mins) while keeping its rural specificity.
The attraction of the village is due to its landscapes made up of gentle hills, ponds, forests, to its pretty village which dominates the surrounding countryside and perhaps also to its name which comes from Porcaria (947) then Porcharia (around 1100) and which meant in Occitan "pig stable", which pigs were a sign of wealth!
