City of Pas-de-Calais region in Haut-de-France, Longuenesse takes up to eighty kilometers from Arras and its citadel. It is located near Saint Omer Wizernes and Arques. Longuenesse experienced over the centuries a very eventful history. Located on the road to Saint-Omer, she experienced many attacks including the Norman hordes and other invaders from all backgrounds. The town has, however, forged a pleasant face and vibrant over the centuries, illustrating particularly during the First World War through an aerodrome which proved particularly strategic.

Today it continues to attract visitors to its charming setting as well as for its architectural and historical heritage that indicate an illustrious past and eventful interest.

Things to see and do

Strolling down Longuenesse you can enjoy the traditional architecture of the buildings before browsing the rich religious heritage of the town. Do not forget to admire the Saint-Quentin-Stella Maris chapel, the Holy Cross Chapel of the twentieth century or the Sainte-Catherine relay.

To enjoy sunny days towards the old abbey park that serves public park today and you can enjoy near the old groundwood built in the late nineteenth century.

Not far from the memorials you can discover in the cemetery space dedicated to Chinese workers employed by the British during the First World War or go to Longuenesse Memorial Cemetery, the military cemetery of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
