Municipality of Mayenne, in the Pays de la Loire region, Louverné takes place about ten kilometers from Laval, in the heart of the historic province of Maine. It is located not far from Changé, Argentré and Saint-Germain-le-Fouilloux.
Known since the 11th century, the city formerly called Saint-Martin-de-Louvernay has long been focused on agriculture before becoming an important home weaving stronghold in the 17th and 18th centuries.
