Municipality of Seine-et-Marne, in the Île-de-France region, Saint-Pierre-lès-Nemours takes place about thirty kilometers from Melun. It is also located about fifteen kilometers from Fontainebleau and its castle, not far from Bagneaux-sur-Loing, Ormesson and Châtenoy.
Inhabited since the Upper Palaeolithic, the territory of Saint-Pierre-lès-Nemours has always benefited from a privileged location on the edge of the forest and the Loing, a major place of communication between the Seine and Loire valleys. The development of the commune of the Ile-de-France region thus naturally took place around fishing and river navigation. Mainly oriented towards agriculture, it is particularly known for being part of the small agricultural region, Pays de Bière and Forêt de Fontainebleau.
