The Blue House at Angers, is an eight-story building constructed from 1927 to 1929 at the corner of Foch Boulevard and Rue d'Alsace.
He was responding to the need to build new housing due to population growth observed in the city.
His plans were designed by the architect Jusserand and its decorations were the work of artist Isidore Odorico.
The building was the first of its kind with a lift to Angers has on its facade shaped tiers (floors appear to recede gradually as we rise) Art Deco mosaics. Built in concrete and stoneware (for interiors), these are mosaics (sandstone, Briare enamel) of different shades up to the blue sky at the top which gave it its name and justify its protection as monuments historic.
The decoration of interior apartments and common spaces are just as remarkable. Shops are created on the ground floor.
The Blue House is to observe from the outside during a walk in the city. Information at +33 2 41 23 50 00.
