Municipality of Alsace, Rombach-le-Franc is now part of the European Community of Alsace, in the Grand Est region. It is located about thirty kilometers from Colmar, not far from Sainte-Croix-aux-Mines, Bassemberg and Urbeis, on the edge of the Bas-Rhin department.
Located at the foot of the Vosges mountains, the village of Rombach-le-Franc seduces lovers of nature and gastronomy. Ideally located between the Val d'Argent and the Val de Villé, it has been a Roman language enclave in Lorraine for more than 1200 years. A long possession of the Alemanni, then of the Franks, the town was conquered by the Merovingians. Dependency of the priory of Lièpvre, it knew how to conquer its independence over the centuries despite looting and invasions. German, then French again, it owes its fame to weaving and the textile industry.
Despite a major fire that destroyed part of the town, Rombach-le-Franc continues to attract visitors with its authentic charm and typical architecture.
