The prefecture hotel of Aveyron, also known as "hotel Le Normant d'Ayssènes, or Lenormand d'Ayssènes", is located on the Place du General de Gaulle, at Rodez.
This is a private mansion built during the first half of the 18th century on behalf of François Le Normant d'Ayssènes, then King's adviser and Treasury official. In 1823, the building was the property of Amans-Joseph-Henri de Séguret when the department proposed to acquire it to install the prefecture there, which until then had been housed within the city's bishopric...
Extended on the "east" side in 1829, the hotel was given a hemicycle in 1982, in the gardens, intended to accommodate meetings of the General Council, following the decentralization laws.
Listed in the Inventory, the Hôtel de la Préfecture is in the form of a building with two wings in return presenting the same façade as the central body, the entrance of which, on the other hand, has a veranda of nice invoice. The whole is in a classic style and the three parts of the building make up a main courtyard.
Apart from certain occasional events, the site is not open to the public (apart from certain services). On the other hand, the 18th century private mansion that has become a prefecture can mark out a walk in the city. Inquire on +33 5 65 75 71 71 or +33 5 65 75 76 77.
