Old-House is closely related to the forest of Orleans, is the bridgehead of the Orleans canal, and the only municipality in the canton to be in the basin of the Seine and the Loire.
From the year 833, Old-House (Domus vetula-), was a mayor of St. Benedict, the monks had in place a mayor in charge of administering the property of the abbey. She became independent by the year 1180.
In 1676, a private company headed by Mr. Mahieu, uses the route of the river "the Joudry" partly to dig the canal, in order to raise the forest timber and heavy materials on Paris. This part works from between 1692 Grignon and Montargis, then the party will be dug Grignon Orleans and the Loire and the Seine are connected. The use of rail traffic has declined, until now, very important, and its decommissioning in 1954.
